EXETER CITY 2 (Rose2)
ALDERSHOT 2  (McCulloch, Laird pen)

Half-time 1-1.

Aldershot scored a controversial penalty 11 minutes from time after Goddard who was controlling the ball was alleged to have deliberately handled. In the circumstances though City were worth no more than a point, for while Exeter were the superior side before the interval, the best constructive movements of the match came from Aldershot in the last half hour of a typical Easter Monday encounter, which like the weather was cheerless apart from the odd bright interval.

Four goals were scored and in this order, 27 Minutes McCulloch put the visitors in front with a header, five minutes later Exeter equalised when Rose scored with a low shot. The same player scored again with another low drive 4 minutes into the 2nd half and lastly the controversial penalty was converted by Laird. Had stamina this contest then the verdict must have gone to Aldershot for they finished the stronger force by far and every man in their team was going full out at the end of the struggle.

Watching Exeter Citys match against Aldershot was Billy Armfield. It was his first visit to the City for more than 20 years. Billy was the Outside right in the team that reached the 6th round of the F.A.Cup in 1931. He is now settled in Birmingham and holding down a good job in an office.

City Reserves 2 Llanelly 2
at Exeter.

Not until they were two goals down in the first 30 minutes did Llanelly run into form at Exeter, but once the visiting side accustomed themselves to the heavy playing pitch they were vastly superior in all all phases. In a game of transformation, Llanelly missed a golden chance when Emmanuel drove a penalty kick straight at the goalkeeper. Then Exeter hit back to score through Knight and McLelland. from positions which were suspiciously off-side A fine goal by Neilson just before the interval was a fitting reward for strong Llanelly pressure. The outside-left beat Singleton in a race for the ball, and glided the ball low into the far corner of the net. The Exeter defence survived non-stop Llanelly attacks until near the finish, when Rose shot an equaliser in a skirmish. Outstanding for Llanelly were Newell, at centre-half, and Love and Wallace in attack.
