Biographical Text

Alex Fisher, a striker, played two seasons for Exeter City before and during the COVD-19 pandemic. Most of his league appearances were as a substitute before he left for Newport County at the end of his contract. He joined City four years after featuring as a pre-season trialist.

Alex was born in London and, educated at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, played in Oxford United's academy system from the age of seven. Making his Oxford United first-team debut in October 2007, he had fourteen league outings (as well as loans with Brackley Town and Oxford City) before his release in May 2009. He then joined the 'academy' in Spain that Glenn Hoddle had established to give young footballers a second chance and, through this, appeared for Jerez Industrial CF ahead of moving to Belgium to play in turn for Tienen, Mechelen and Heist. Subsequently joining Italian club AC Monza, he then spent the 2014/15 campaign with Mansfield Town in 2014.

Seeking a club in the summer of 2015, Alex arrived at Exeter City on trial and took part in a number of the Grecians' pre-season games in Scotland. Without being offered a contract by City, he had a five-month spell with Torquay United in the National League followed by stints in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Motherwell. He then enjoyed a eighteen-month stay in Somerset with Yeovil Town betweeen January 2018 and May 2019 which started with a FA Cup tie against Manchester Unted and finished with the club's relegation from the Football League.

It was at this point that Alex arrived at St James Park making his debut against Coventry City in the League Cup on August 13 2019. He scored three goals before the outbreak of COVID-19, one in the league and two in FA Cup ties against Cambridge United, and went on to play against Northampton Town in the play-off final in June 2020. He was then to play eighteen league games in his second season - when football was largely played behind closed doors because of the pandemic - scoring twice more.

Not re-engaged by City, Alex signed for Newport County in August 2021 before returning to Yeovil a year later - where he experienced relegation followed by promotion - ahead of joining Bath City in time for the 2024/25 campaign.
