Bob Davis was signed from Queens Park Rangers in time for the 1962/63 season. His only first-team appearance was in the Football League Cup and, although he was soon released by the club, he remained in the area to successfully manage Exmouth Town.
Bob made his debut, as a defender, on 5 Semptember 1962 in the Football League Cup at Aldershot. He did not play another first-team game and left to join Yeovil Town in 1963.
Bob was manager of Exmouth in the 1980s and became one of the most successful managers in the club's history. He guided the Southern Road club to a FA Vase semi-final appearance against Fleetwood Town as well as winning the Western League Championship.
Bob became a sub-postmaster in Littleham and later ran the Magnolia cafe on The Parade in Exmouth with his wife Sandra.
