Gary McPhee played in a pre-season friendly for City against Wimbledon in 2000.
He played youth football for Vitesse Arnhem Football Academy, originally from Scotland.
In September 1999 he signed a contract with Coventry City, he was his loan to Newry Town FC scoring 28 goals in 24 games.
After a short stay at Exeter, he signed for Portadown, and was there until 2003, playing for Stranraer, the following season, when a double break of his legs, curtailed his season.
He played for the St Patrick's during the 2004 season and then Moor Green FC (2005-2006) and Nuneaton Borough in 2006
