Biographical Text
Gary McPhee played for Exeter City in a pre-season friendly against Wimbledon in July 2000. Previously with Coventry City, he later played in Ireland, Scotland and the Midlands.
After a spell as a youth player with Vitesse Arnhem, he signed for Coventry City as a nineteen-year-old in 1999 but was without a club when he arrived at St James' Park in July 2000. Staying just for a few weeks, nothing came of his stay as manager Noel Blake continued his hunt for new signings.
Already known in Northern Ireland after a loan spell at Newry Town, he played for Portadown until 2003. Playing for Stranraer over the next three seasons, he suffered several serious injuries and only made 29 league appearances (plus another when on to East Stirlingshire) before returning to the Coventry area to turn out for Moor Green and Nuneaton Borough. He also featured in the League of Ireland for St Patrick's Athletic.
