Biographical Text

Martin Musgrove son of former West Ham player Malcolm Musgrove - who managed Torquay United before serving Exeter City in a coach/physio role in the early 1980s - was an Exeter City apprentice between 1978 and 1980. After leaving City, Martin later appeared in the Football League for Torquay United.

Born in east London, when his father was at West Ham, he finished his schooling in Torquay before arriving at St James' Park in 1978. Not offered professional terms he later played for Heavitree United, then in the Western League, during which time he made two league appearances for Torquay United on a non-contract basis.

In 1983 Martin spent a season playing in New Zealand before returning to Britain to start a career in sales, advertising and - eventually - publishing. As a sideline Martin became interested in yachting and gradually built up a business in Lymington offering RYA training, corporate hospitality, offshore racing and team building events.
