1980
David Jones

David Jones was a youth player at Exeter in 1980.

David was a pupil at Whitleigh Secondary School, when City signed the 16-year-old left back as an apprentice when he left school in May 1980.

City's Youth Development Officer Chris Davey recalled trying to sign Jones as a 14-year-old. But Bristol City took him on Associate schoolboy forms before releasing him just before Christmas 1979.

David returned to play one game for Exeter's youth team; then Argyle stepped in with a view to offering him an apprecticeship.

Once again he lost out on the chance of a contract and once again he was invited to play for City's youth side and, as well as, their reserves in the Western League.

In 1982 he joined Liskeard, having also played for Falmouth. A left back he played for Liskeard for 5 seasons.
