Guy Fawden played for Exeter City reserves in 1979/80 and later appeared for Newton Abbot. Also had a trial with Nottingham Forest having possibly been recommended by former City player Jack Blood who had 'sent' other South Devon players to Forest for trials.

"Exeter City are following the progress of Newton Abbot's 16 year - old Guy Fawden, who is on a three month's trial with Notts Forest. They will move in promptly if Fawden, who was Newton Dynamo's Player of the Year last season, returns home without an offer to stay."
