A winger, he played for Exeter City under-18s in the FA Youth Cup, Devon and Exeter Youth League and South West and Wales Youth League in 1974/75.
He also appeared for the reserves in the South Western League in 1974/75 and in the Western League between 1975 and 1977 before turning out for Clyst Rovers.
