1910 Camble

Local amateur who appeared for in a practice match in 1910/11 during the early seasons of the club's professional era when the reserves were in the Plymouth and District League. Did not appear for the first-team in the Southern League.

Possibly one of a number of players with the same surname who were associated with either St Sidwell's United or Exeter City in the first-quarter of the 20th century. The links between these individuals is unclear - or even how many there were - starting with the player who is known to have played in a friendly for St Sidwell's United against Friernhay in February 1902.

A player called Camble certainly played as an amateur in the public practice match on 20 August 1910.

Rather later, between 1921 and 1923, a player called Camble was playing for the reserves in the Southern League. Birth records - where some individuals are rather young to play and others too old - do not help with clarification. There also remains the possibility that there was confusion with players called 'Campbell' on occasions.

Any further information would be appreciated.
