1922
Percy Newberry

Percy Newberry played for Exeter Argyle and made his debut for Exeter on the 26th August 1922. He also represented Devon County on a number of occasions. 


He was an Inside left who scored against Bath City in the first game he played in front of a crowd in excess of 4000. Towards the end of 1922/23 season he played for Exeter Argyle v St James at SJP, in the final of the East Devon Cup, Exeter Argyle won 3-1.

He continued to play for the reserves for the next five seasons, including a friendly against the Bristol League X1 on the 9/1/1926, City won 4-0 and Percy scored twice, playing as an inside-right. He played in the practice games and for the reserves in Western and Southern leagues in 1926/27.

In 1928/29 he played for Taunton Town in the Western League, scoring against Exeter in a match in September, and continued to play for them throughout the season.
