Phil was an 18 year old trainee who was on the subs bench for the first team at least seven times. Including Plymouth in 1993/94 at home, and at the start the 1994/95 season against Darlington, Colchester and others.

He played for Exeter City in the Westcountry TV SW Counties League and for the Reserves.
