Steve Mardenborough

Steve Mardenborough was a much travelled player who Terry Cooper bought in on trial at the start of 1994/95 season. He played and scored in the opening Avon Insurance Combination Reserve game at Yeovil in 2-0 win.
Terry wanted to sign him on a months loan but was unable to because the club was under a transfer embargo.

Steve Mardenborough started his senior career at Coventry in 1982, he moved to Wolves the following season without making an appearance for Coventry. He played nine times for the Molineux club including scoring at Anfield.
He then moved to Cambridge in 1984, playing six times, without scoring, moving to Swansea City for the 1984/85 season, he played 36 times, scoring 7 goals at the Veitch. At the end of the season he moved to Newport County, saying there until 1987, scoring 11 goals in 64 games. From Newport he moved west to Cardiff City, making 32 appearances and scoring once. In 1988 he played 27 games for Hereford.
Steve moved to Sweden and played for IFK Ostersund, returning to play for Cheltenham, Darlington, Lincoln City, Scarborough, From where he joined Exeter City, on trial.
He then signed for Stafford Rangers for the 1994/95 season, followed by moves to Colchester, back to Newport and Swansea and then in 1996 to Cwmbran, Inter Cardiff, Aberystwyth Town, Rhayader Town, Haverfordwest, Port Talbot, Llanelli, Carmarthen and finally Barry Town in 2003. He has made over 500 first team apperances scoring over 100 goals in a 21 year career.
