Hung Dang
Spurs signed him from the Lilleshall National FA School of Excellence, Hung Dang had come to England from Vietnam and settled in the West Country before Terry Venables brought him to White Hart Lane.
Arriving in England in the mid-1970s from his village of Mo Cai in Vietnam.
Hung was a talented sportsman in more than just football. A table tennis player and also a rugby player and Athletics champion in his age group.
Hung played in goal for Victoria Colts Under-11's and in every position on the field.
He entered a soccer skills competition run by Bobby Charlton and out of the 10,000 entrants, he won the tournament in front of a packed Old Trafford.
He signed on schoolboy forms for Tottenham and was picked to join the FA's school at Lilleshall, the national football centre. He was only 15, on the 8th August 1987 he represented England Under-16s against Denmark at Wembley. The match was a warm-up for the Football League Centenary match between a Football League select Xi and a Rest of the World XI. With a host of stars in the main game watching, Hung Dang scored both goals in a 2-0 England win.
Dang was a contemporary of Ian Walker, Trevor Sinclair, Ollie Morah and Andy Cole in the England Under-16s.
He scored seven goals in the 32 games he played from November 1987 to September 1990, for Spurs, when he was injured.
He moved to Exeter City when he left Tottenham, he scored a large number of goals for the youth team including a goal in the FA Youth Cup in 1990 and 7goals in a 9-1 win against Offwell for the reserves in the Spring of 1991.
He moved to Chard Town at the start of the 1991/92 season, where he made 43 appearances, scoring 4 times.
He also played for Poole Town, Yeovil Town, Bridport in 1995/96 and Salisbury before he finally retired from the senior game after suffering further injuries that ended his career. He played locally and continued to live in the Taunton area.
