Tyler played for Exeter City in pre-season friendlies against Dorchester Town, Taunton Town and Weymouth in 2017..
Aged twenty-two at the time, Tyler had previously been at Plymouth Argyle since the age of nine. He made his first-team debut at seventeen and within weeks scored in a Boxing Day 2012 fixture against Torquay United. Later, in August 2014, Tyler also scored against Exeter City.

Tyler was to play around fifty games for Argyle before rejecting a contract extension in 2016. During that time he had loan spells at Salisbury and Bath City.
Tyler joined National League Wrexham on a one-year deal soon returning to Bath City on loan. Tyler’s Wrexham contract was cancelled in January 2017 and he played out the season for Truro City. Tyler would have been open to offers when he played for Exeter in July 2017. .
The outcome was that Tyler re-joined Truro and remained there until the end of 2018/19. He then had a two-month stay at Bath City but soon returned to Truro for whom he was still playing in 2022/23.
