Scott Howie, a goalkeeper recently released by Bristol Rovers, played for Exeter City in a July 2003 friendly against Portsmouth. He had previously been with Clyde, Motherwell and Reading and went on to appear for Shrewsbury.
Also lining up against Exmouth Town during his time with City, Scott had made ninety league appearances for Bristol Rovers during the previous two campaigns in a career that had started with Clyde and had also taken in Norwich, Motherwell and Reading. Making a favourable impression, the Grecians offered him a contract but the 31-year-old opted to sign for Shrewsbury Town where he made a further forty league appearances.
Having earlier appeared for Scotland under-21 during his time at Norwich, he finished his career in East Anglia with Cambridge United, King's Lynn and Wroxham.
