Dave O'Connor had been a youth player at Exeter, who came on as substitute for Les Afful in the pre-season game against Portsmouth in 2003.
He was a trainee at Exeter in 2003/04, in the same cohort as Dean Moxey, Sean Canham, Martin Rice and others.
He also played for the youth team on the 16th October 2004 in the FAYC.
