Biographical Text
Miguel De Souza, who had previously been with Charlton Athletic and Bristol City, played on trial at Exeter in 1990/91. Spending the next three years in non-league football, he later played in the Football League with Birmingham City, Wycombe Wanderers and Peterborough United.
On schoolboy forms with Brighton and Hove Albion, he started in adult football with Clapton ahead of turning professional with Charlton Athletic in 1989. Playing as a right back and midfielder, he didn't make the first-team during his time at the Valley and, after a similarly unproductive spell on monthly contracts at Bristol City, arrived at St James' Park for a trial in July 1990.
With the recently-promoted Geecians looking forward to life in a higher division, no deal was put on the table for Miguel and he returned to the non-league circuit to play for Yeovil Town, Dorchester Town, Bashley and Dagenham & Redbridge.
Then, in 1993, he took his chance with Birmingham City where he made 15 league appearances followed by 83 league games in the colours of Wycombe Wanderers (scoring 29 league goals in the process) and another 35 league outings on behalf of Peterborough United.
Also passing through Bury, Southend and Rochdale on loan, he later appeared for Rushden & Diamonds and Boston United in advance of coaching at St Albans City, Leyton Orient and taking on a academy role back at Charlton Athletic.
