1956 Long, Tony
Tony Long was an Exeter City 'A' team player of the mid-1960s who later played in a successful Bideford side.
As an amateur he played for the Exeter City 'A' team that won the second-tier of the Exeter and District League in 1956/57. Later becoming a semi-professional, he netted 19 goals in 20 games when Bideford won the Western League in 1963/64.
With Bideford striving to retain the title in 1964/65 Tony had made a bright start to the season with 15 goals in 11 games when he broke his leg in the 2-0 win over Welton Rovers who eventually pipped the North Devon club to the championship.
