1956 Ellis, Tony
Tony Ellis played for Exeter City's 'A' team in the mid-1950s and became a well-known local referee as well as running the line in the Football League.
Also a played for Kenn United, he played for the Exeter City 'A' team that won the second-tier of the Exeter and Distict League in 1956/57. Later taking up refereeing he became a Western League and eventually ran the line in the Football League until his last appointment at Southampton in 1984. A bookbinder by trade, he became a referee assessor and also looked after visiting officials at St James' Park
Tony remainded a supporter of Exeter City until his death in 2011 and was also an avid follower of the Exeter Falcons speedway team.
