1905 Dalyrimple
Known to have played at outside-left against Torquay United in a friendly on 11 February 1905 which City won 6-3. Did not appear in the league for the first-team.
Listed in the surviving match report as 'Dalyrimple', this is a much less common spelling than 'Dalrymple' and is highly-likely to have been a mistake. There was a Robert Dalrymple, who often appeared on the wing, playing for Plymouth Argyle at the time and there is a possibility he may have been guesting for Exeter. Born in Paisley in 1880 and previously with Hearts, he was a professional with Argyle between 1903 and 1905 - but did not play for the first-team on the day of the game in question - before featuring for a number of teams including Rangers, Portsmouth, Fulham and Clapton Orient.
