Neil, from Exeter was a right wing back who had previously played as an associate schoolboy in City's Under-17 squad, whilst at St Peter's High School. 

He was a trainee at Exeter from 1998 to 2000, playing in 1998/99 in the South West Counties Youth League and Devon and Exeter Youth league.

In 1999/2000 he also played for Exeter City Reserves in the Football Alliance and was also picked to play for an FA Youth X1 against the Royal Navy at Portsmouth.

Neil played for Barnstaple in 2001.

He was at Tiverton from 2006 to 2008, the following season he was playing for Budleigh Salterton.

In 2019 Neil was playing football for Sidmouth Town.
