Simon Baines, from Blandford Forum, was a trainee with Exeter City during the 1998/99 season. He later lived in South Africa and subsequently became a soccer coach in the United States.

Originally a trainee with Yeovil Town, he switched to Exeter City to cpmplete his training before later playing for Dorchester, Weymouth and Chard.

He then spent nine years in South Africa working in sales and corporate accounts before returning to Britain to work in a business solutions firm in Southampton and to play for Poole Town. Then, in 2013, he moved to the United States to work as a soccer coach with UK Elite in the New York area.
