Matt Armstong-Ford, a goalkeeper, was registered to play for Exeter City in the Football League in 2010/11 and had made a number of reserve appearances from 2009 onwards. He was given squad number 38.
Matt attended St Bede’s School in Eastbourne and studied an animal biology and zoology course at Cornwall College where he started to play for Newquay. It was when he was in Cornwall that Matt began his association with Exeter City. He later moved back to Sussex and signed for Horsham in 2011 and Hastings United in 2013 for whom he missed out playing against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup because of injury.
Matt has worked as a ranger and safari guide in South Africa running a business called Armstrong Safaris. His father was a leading tennis umpire who officiated at a number of Wimbledon finals.
