Steve Finney

Steve Finney was a striker who was released on a free by Leyton Orient at the end of the 1998/99 season.

He played and scored in pre season games at Brechin and at Exeter at home to Portsmouth.

Steve began his career at Preston North End as an a apprentice making  his professional debut in 1991/92. 

In 1993, after only six appearances in the league he moved to Manchester City 

In the summer of 1995, he moved to Swindon Town, scoring 12 goals in a season that helped then to the Division 2 title, he remained with Swindon until July 1998, when he moved to Carlisle United and then Leyton Orient.

Steve was  on trial with the Grecians in the summer of 1999, and even appeared in the squad photo.

He then dropped into non–league football with Barrow before returning to League with Chester City, after they were relegated to the conference he joined Altrincham, initially on loan. He made an immediate impact with a hat–trick against Whitby Town.
