Joe was a trainee at Exeter City between 2017 and 2019 playing in FA Youth Cup and Youth Alliance games. He was on the bench for the EFL Trophy game against Bristol Rovers in November 2018 but did not appear.

In 2020 he was at Buckland Athletic before moving on to play for Tiverton in August 2021 where he was the supporters' player of the year in 2021/22. Remaining at the club in 2022/23, Joe moved to Plymouth Parkway in June 2023 and Exmouth Town in February 2024.
