Joe was a trainee at Exeter City between 2016 and 2018. 

After being released by City, he joined Southern League Frome Town in summer 2018 and made fourteen appearances in his first season at Badgers Hill as well as playing on loan at Ivybridge Town.

Joe signed a new contract in 2019 and remained at Frome through COVID-19 to the end of 2021/22. He then returned to Devon to sign for Tiverton Town at the start of 2022/23. 

Combining football with working as a sports coach, Joe  undertook a postgraduate degree in sports management at Bath University during 2022/23 to go with an undergraduate qualification from the same institution. After also playing for Yate Town, and having a spell travelling, Joe joined Tavistock halfway through the 2023/24 season.
