Biographical Text

Alfie Pond, who came through the academy from the earliest possible stage, played three first-team games before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers at the age of eighteen in 2022. 

Alfie became a scholar/trainee in 2020 and made his first-team debut against Chelsea U21s in the EFL Trophy on 24 August 2021, The following day he signed for Tiverton Town on loan and went on to play 27 games for the club whilst continuing to appear for City in the EFL Trophy, FA Youth Cup and Premier League under-23 Cup. Towards the end of the season Alfie sat on the bench for first-team league games and went on to win the Exeter City Supporters' Trust Young Player of the Year. Subsequently, in July 2022, it was reported that the club had turned down offers for Alfie from both Celtic and Rangers. 

In August 2022, after appearing for City at Cheltenham in League Cup, Alfie joined Yeovil Town on a loan deal until January 2023 and played two National League games. Next came the announcement on 2 September that Alfie had signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee. The fee, it was unofficially suggested at the time, involved an initial payment of £500,000 with additional clauses.
As 2023/23 progressed, Alfie played for Wolves under-21s in Premier League 2 and also played against Manchester United under 21s in the knockout stages of the EFL Trophy.

Alfie made his Wolves debut as a substitute against Blackpool in the League Cup in August 2023 ahead of joining Stockport County on loan where he made nine appearances before being recalled in January 2024 to spend the remainder of the season playng for Wolves' under-21 side. Moving into the following season, he made his first start for the first-team in the EFL Cup against Brighton and Hove Albion in September 2024 ahead of being named as an ultimately unused substitute for the Premier League match against Liverpool a few days later.
