Tom, who attended St Luke’s in Exeter, was an Exeter City trainee/scholar between 2018 and 2020. He had been with the club since the under-13s.

Speaking of Tom in February 2018 Chad Gribble, under-16 coach, remarked: 

"Tom possesses a good passing technique, whilst he has improved his work rate and competitiveness during his time in the academy, turning him now into an all-action midfielder." 

Tom appeared in the Devon St Luke's Bowl in 2018/19.

After his release by City, Tom undertook a scholarship at Hawkeye Community College in iowa and played for the Hawkeye Redtails.
