Lewis played for the City's Under 17s in 2003/04 and was still at the club when he played against Witney Town in the FA Youth Cup in October 2004.

Lewis, from the Taunton area, continued to attend Millfield School whilst at City and played for the England Schools’ under-18 team in 2006.

Lewis then gained a scholarship to Hofstra University, Long Island, New York. Around this time he had a short stint at Tiverton Town playing eleven games in 2007/08 before playing with Taunton Town in 2008/09.

Lewis is the brother of Lloyd and Owen Irish who were each best-known for their time at Taunton Town. All three were also keen cricketers.

As of 2023 Lewis was secretary of North Petherton CC in Somerset.
