Robert was an apprentice in 1965/66 and in 1966/67, who played for the reserves and the Colts.
He played for the youth team in the FA Youth Cup in November 1966 against Torquay and Plymouth.

Robert played and scored against Exeter when he was playing for Bridport in 1972.
