Nigel Redfern from Hull, was signed as a schoolboy in October 1981.
In November 1981 the Sunday Independant (Gordon Hines) reported:-
"EXETER City's associate schoolboy signing Nigel Redfern has been selected for a final England schoolboys' trial. The 14 year-old Redfern is from Hull and was snap ped up by City this season."
