Ian made his debut for Exeter City Reserves against Weymouth on the 22nd of August 1964.
He was full back who played against Bridgwater on the 2/1/65 and Weymouth on the 30/1/65.
Ian, an accomplished full-back, joined Barnstaple Town at the start of the 1965 season staying for two seasons, and then joining Bideford for the beginning of the 1967/68 season, he stayed at Bideford for two years before rejoining Barnstaple
He was at Barnstaple Town until the end of the 1981/82 season, by then he had made than 500 appearances for the Mill Road Club, averaging 46 games a season.
In 2015, Ian was inducted into the Barnstaple Town inaugural Hall of Fame.
