Luke Roper attended Heathfield School in Taunton and was an Exeter City trainee/scholar between 2010 and 2012 prior to signing a short-term professional deal at the start of 2012/13.

Having achieved highly in his course at Exeter College whilst at City, Luke decided not to pursue a career in professional football and graduated from Exeter University in 2016 with a first-class degree in business and accounting. As of 2023 Luke was working for Deloitte in Reading.
