Biographical Text
Harry Holcroft, a teenage wing-half from the Lancashire coast, had a brief spell as a professional at Exeter City when football officially resumed after the Second World War. He didn’t appear for the first-team.
Seen as a player of promise, the eighteen-year-old had been playing junior football in Southport when he agreed professional terms with City in September 1946. Soon appearing for the reserves in the Southern League, but never making the breakthrough, Harry returned to the North West where he died in Southport in his late thirties in 1966.
