Arthur Steener

Arthur was born in Yeovil on the 7th January 1934.

He joined his hometown club in 1951, playing for two seasons before leaving to do National Service.
He then joined Bristol City in August 1954, leaving them a year later without making a football league appearance.
He signed for Plymouth again in the August making his football league debut for Argyle against Leicester City on the 24th of September 1955. He appeared 9 times, scoring once for the Home Park club, before joining Norwich in August 1956, he played six games for the Canaries, then left the nest, to sign a short term contract at Exeter City in December 1956. Norman Dodgin, the manager had tried to sign him from Plymouth.

He made his debut as an outside-left against Bedford Town on the 29th of December 1956 in a Southern League fixture, going on to play 3 games until he left Exeter in January 1957. 

He joined Taunton Town, and then in April 1957 he signed a contract at Oldham until the end of the season. After making 3 appearances he moved back to Yeovil for the following season.

When he retired from playing he ran a storage and removals firm in Yeovil.

Arthur passed away in March 2010.
