Biographical Text
Having recently been released by Portsmouth, Nick Burton played five games for City's reserves in the Neville Ovenden Football Combination as a triallist towards the end of the 1992/93 season before later signing for Torquay United.
Hailing from Suffolk, Nick joined Portsmouth in 1991 and spent two seasons as a trainee/apprentice before his release at the age of eighteen. After not being offered a contract at St James' Park, he signed a professional deal with Torquay United and made eight Football League appearances in 1993/94 followed by a similar number during the following campaign.
Leaving Plainmoor at the end of his second season, Nick moved into non-league football with Yeovil Town followed by stints with Aldershot Town, Hampton & Richmond and - by 2001 - Gravesend & Northfleet. Signing for Farnborough Town in 2003 he later turned out for Crawley Town, Eastleigh, St Albans City and Staines Town ahead of re-signing for Farnborough in 2006. With financial problems at the club, Nick left for Harrow Borough prior to joining the reformed Farnborough FC in 2008 and seeing out his career with Walton Casuals.
Moving into sales after the end of his professional career, Nick enjoyed a long association with HB Fuller, an industrial adhesives manufacturer.
