Dalvinder was a 17-year-old trialist from Southampton who played in a friendly at Wellington in  October 2001. Later playing non-league football, he attended university in Southampton and Bristol and became a solicitor in Southampton.

Having been in Southampton's academy, he made a trial appearance for City early in the 2001/02 when he scored twice in a 7-0 win at Wellington. He also had a similar opportunity with AFC Bournemouth before signing for Salisbury City at the age of nineteen and Farnborough ahead of the 2003/04 season when he  was in the squad at the time of the club's visit to St James' Park in August 2003. He subsequently suffered an injury that curtained his playing career.

Completing his law degree at Southampton Solent University in 2008, and his professional qualifying course at the University of the West of England in 2011, he was admitted as a solicitor in November 2014. Thereafter he was a partner in a legal practice in Southampton and coached youth football. Speaking many years after his trial with he Grecians, he had fond memories of the game at Wellington.
