Dan was a goalkeeper with the Exeter City Academy in the under-16s age group before he signed scholarship forms with Torquay United in 2013.
Aged eighteen Dan made his debut for Torquay in April 2015 and, keeping three clean sheets in five games, earned a trial with Liverpool at the end of the season. Returning to Plainmoor without a deal at Anfield, he made a further eleven league appearances before signing for Wigan Athletic in January 2016.
Loaned back to Torquay immediately, and again subsequently, Dan eventually appeared 31 times for his hometown club. After a further loan spell at Rhyl, Dan was to leave Wigan in August 2019 without playing a first-team game.
Signing for AFC Fylde, Dan was mainly used as cover and had just six league and cup outings in a one-year stay. Switching to FC United of Manchester in 2020, Dan arrived at the club shortly after Evan Moran - another former Exeter City youth keeper - had moved on.
Quickly establishing himself Dan spent three years with the Manchester club appearing over a hundred times and winning a player of the year award whilst also completing his studies which gained him a degree in jounalism from Staffordshire University. He also claimed a winners medal in June 2022 keeping a clean sheet in the final of the Fenix Trophy, a European invitational tournament, in Rimini. Remaining with FC United in 2022/23, and playing in another edition of the Fenix Trophy in Milan, Dan moved back to the South West signing for Taunton Town in June 2023 and Truro City in July 2024.
