A former Oxford United trainee, he took time off work to spend time on trial with Exeter City during the early months of 1986.

A striker, he was aged twenty at the time of his association with the Grecians and, after playing for Witney Town, moved to Cheltenham in a £3,000 deal before later spells with Wealdstone,  Banbury United,  Swindon Supermarine and Cirencester Town.
