He was in a team that beat Plymouth side SB Frankfurt 1-0 with a Marc Cullen winner, in 1990.

Steve played for the A team at City in 1991/92 and for the reserves and youth team in 1992/93.

Whilst at Exeter, he had been picked to play for the U-19, British Colleges Team.
