Andy Best played in a pre-season friendly for Exeter City in the mid-1980s having previously played for Torquay United in the Football League.
Andy was twenty-five, and playing for Teignmouth in the South Western League, when he was offered a chance by a struggling Torquay United in October 1984. With Dave Webb at the helm at Plainmoor, and the club destined to finish at the foot of the Football League, Andy made 18 league appearances that season and scored twice against Northampton Town and Port Vale.
Not offered a deal for the following season, he played on the right-wing for City in a pre-season friendly against Exmouth in August 1985 at the Cat and Fiddle prior to joining Dawlish Town.
He was reported to be still playing for Teignmouth at the age of 42 in 2001.
