British groom-to-be died after falling 100ft down a precipice while on his stag do in Spain.
Roofer Tony Kyle, 25, plunged to his death after becoming separated from friends on a night out.
Mr Kyle, a keen amateur footballer, had flown to the Costa Brava to celebrate his forthcoming February marriage to fiancee Emma.
But the trip ended in tragedy in the early hours of Saturday.
Mr Kyle, from Exwick, Devon, had jetted to Girona with his friends, who returned home on Sunday.
His family have been informed and are being assisted by consular staff . A judge is expected to release his body so it can be returned to the UK.
Police refused to name the hotel where Mr Kyle was staying.
Fellow players at his football side Heavitree United called off a cup match after hearing the news.
They described him as 'a talented player' and 'a great, fun-loving lad,' who lived with Emma. Details are still unclear.
He had played football for several sides over the years and friends paid tribute to him yesterday.
Shawn King, second team coach at Heavitree United in Exeter, said: 'Everyone at the club is shocked. It's a massive loss to the club and his family and friends.
'Tony was a very decent fellow and a very good striker. He scored a lot of goals. He was a quiet man and very sensible.
'I don't know what happened in Spain. It's not my place and I won't speculate. I will speak to the lads when they return.'
Mr Kyle had been having treatment for a damaged knee ligament and was due to have an operation when he came back from his honeymoon.
He played for Broadclyst for five years until last season. Manager Paul Taylor said: 'These are such sad circumstances. He was one of my closest friends in the team and we had a good relationship.
"He was a sound lad on and off the pitch and loved his football — he played Saturdays and Sundays.
'He was a very quick and talented player and a good goal scorer, especially in the final of the Devon Senior Cup last year.'
Broadclyst secretary Paul White said: 'This is such a shock; we know he was due to get married soon.
'On behalf of everyone at the football club, we would like to send our condolences to his family. He was a great, outgoing, fun-loving lad.'
