1989 Davey, Damian
Birthplace
Plymouth, Devon February 1971
Biographical Text
Former Plymouth Argyle apprentice who had an unsuccessful trial with Exeter City but became first-team physio at both Argyle and Torquay United.
Damian, son of Plymouth Argyle and Exeter City footballer Steve Davey, played and scored against Okehampton Argyle for Exeter's youth team on 30 December 1989. He had recently been released after a two-year apprenticeship at Home Park and was looking to get back into the game having also had a three-match trial with Coventry City.
He was unsuccessful in the playing sense but, after developing an interest in the treatment of injury, Damien later worked as physio at both Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United. He also ran his own practice and later specialised as an aesthetic practitioner.
Whilst at Plainmoor Damien made occasional appearances in reserve games and in the Devon St Luke’s Bowl.

Whilst researching Coventry reserve matches I discovered that Damian made three substitute appearances for Coventry in April/May 1989. I think his father Steve was a contemporary of Coventry manager Steve Davey.
