Herdman Armstrong was an outside-left who made his debut for the reserves on the 11th September 1952 in the Southern League Cup at Hereford. He was on a short trial from, Durham County and returned a week later. He moved to North Shields in 1953 but played only once before leaving the club. He also played for Consett.
