Ian Bearpark, a goalkeeper, had recently played in the Football League for Bristol Rovers when he signed for Exeter City late in 1960. After playing for City’s reserves, but not the first-team, he moved on to Bath City.
From Gloucestershire he had played for Cam Bulldogs and Stonehouse prior to signing for Bristol City. Always a reserve at Ashton Gate he switched to Bristol Rovers in August 1960 and made two league appearances during the first-half of the 1960/61 season ahead of joining the Grecians in December 1960.
With Alan Jones, John Lobbett and Colin Tinsley taking turns with the first-team keeper’s jersey during his time with the club, Ian moved on to Bath City in October 1962 and later turned out for Weston-Super-Mare before finally returning to play for Stonehouse.
