Ian Scott, formerly with Montrose, appeared for Exeter City Reserves when on National Service in Newton Abbot.

Word reached City player-/manager Glen Wilson in October 1960  that Ian, an inside-forward with Montrose who had started his career with Thornton Hibs in Fife junior football, was to be based locally for the remainder of his National service. Reaching an agreement to effectively borrow him for the 1960/61 season, City gave Ian a number of outings for the Reserves who had recently joined the Western League from the Southern League. 

Not to be confused with better-known players of the same name who were playing in Scotland around the same time), Ian returned to Scotland and joined Brechin City for the 1961/62 season.
