City player/manager Glen Wilson got to hear in October 1960, that Montrose inside forward Ian Scott has been drafted to Newton Abbot for the remainder of his National service, so he has contacted the Scottish club and signed an agreement to sign Ian and release him to go back to Scotland in 11 months time, Scott born in Kirkcaldy, is 6ft 1" and 12 stone and was a regular choice for Montrose.
He played 10 games for City reserves in the Western League in 1960/61.
Ian had signed for Dundee United on a free transfer from Brechin City, in September 1958, initially on a one month trial. He was soon signed for the rest of the campaign but was released in April 1959 (after playing 29 times and scoring 10 goals) and joined Montrose. Returning to Scotland he joined Raith Rovers.
