Biographical Text
Tony Irons, who won the Western League with Bideford in 1964, appeared for City’s ‘A’ and reserve teams between 1960 and 1963.
Tony was a fifteen-year-old, who had previously played junior football with Foxhayes, when he joined the Exeter City groundstaff in February 1960. A wing-half, he remained on the club’s books as an ‘A’ team and reserve player until he joined Bideford in 1963 where he was part of a Western League championship-winning side in his first season.
He later played for Heavitree United.
