From Newton Abbot, Brian Turner was a regular for Exeter City's reserves in Western League in 1960/61 and turned professional the following season.

Also a player with Newton Abbot Spurs, his professioal career only lasted a season and - in the absence of a reserve team in the Western League in 1961/62 - he spent the season playing in the Devon and Exeter League.
