Ian Stephens, a defender from Torpoint, was on for trial for Exeter City in April 1988 and appeared for the reserves against Plymouth Argyle.
He went on to have a long career playing and managing a variety of clubs in the South Western and South West Peninsula leagues. Best-known as a player, manager and committee member of Torpoint, his nephew Jack Stephens played for Plymouth Argyle before spending many years with Southampton and also playing for England through to under-21 level.
