Eddie Gray, a left-back, was a trialist with Exeter City in 1931. He had been playing senior amateur football in the London area. 

Originally from South Hylton near Sunderland, he had moved to London in 1929 and was turning out for Isthmian League Kingstonian when he had a one-month trial with City in August and September 1931.
