Eddie Gray was from Kingstonians, and had come to St James Park on a months trial from August to the 19th September 1931.

He played for the reserves and was in the squad photo.

Described as " a dashing young left back, a native of South Hylton, near Sunderland, he moved to the metropolis in 1929, linking up with Kingstonians, with whom he has made a big name for himself in London soccer circles. He is of stong physique, and a quick and fearless player."
